One person dead after Laurel tour bus crash - WTOP

Fifty-eight people were on the tour bus, and seven were taken to a hospital after complaining of minor injuries. The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on Fort Meade Road near Route 198 in Laurel, Maryland. Audrey Barnes with the City of Laurel said the bus was attempting to make a left turn into a shopping plaza when it collided with a pickup truck.

It happened along Fort Meade and Brock Bridge roads. Police say 58 people were on board the bus bound for Niagara Falls when according to witnesses the bus attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way. The driver of the truck, 45-year-old Michael Palomo of Silver Spring, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but later died.

WASHINGTON '€” The Maryland State Highway Administration is being asked to give a Laurel intersection a safety check following a deadly crash Thursday night. Thursday'€™s crash happened around 6:15 p.m. and involved a tour bus and a pickup truck. The crash investigation continues, and Barnes is asking anyone who saw it happen to call police at 301-498-0092.
