The Belmont Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident. The wreck occurred at 9:27 a.m. on Interstate-85 North near the Exit 27 off ramp, according to the news release from the Belmont Police Department.
Police say a drunk driver crashed her Ford Explorer into a city owned building on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue early on Friday morning. Anne Star Blomley is the suspect in the case and was being booked at the police department this morning.

Police in Salisbury are investigating after pregnant woman was involved in a head-on crash that killed her unborn child.

A head-on crash took the lives of a man and woman early Friday morning just south of Salisbury. Keith Tillman, 34, and Jenny Williams, 31, both of Rowan County, died in the crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Neither Robertson or Engelmann were wearing a seat belt, and Robertson was ejected from the vehicle and died later at a local hospital. Engelmann was treated for injuries and then faces various charges including DWI.
The N.C. Highway Patrol says an Alabama couple was killed as they changed a tire on Interstate 40. The patrol identified the victims as George and Carol Kittle, of Hollytree, Ala. Both were 66.
