Virginia State Police are investigating after a small plane crash-landed in a wooded area of Prince William County near Manassas. Police say the pilot of the small plane struck the trees and fell into a yard on the 9400 block of Upper Mill Loop. Police say officers were called to the scene of the crash just after 9 a.m. on Sunday. Police say no one on the ground was injured.

An investigation is underway after a pilot was injured when a small plane crashed while attempting to land at Manassas Regional Airport near Bristow, Va., Sunday morning. According to a statement from the FAA, the accident happened as the pilot was practicing approaches at the airport. The pilot was airlifted to a hospital with what were described as serious injuries, according to WJLA. No one on the ground was hurt. WJLA reports crews were called to 9400 block of Upper Mill Loop  just after 9 a.m. after the small plane hit some trees and came to rest in the woods behind a home. WNEW reports the female pilot is a student at Dulles Aviation.
